Center of Excellence

Carolina Weight Loss Surgery has been designated a Center of Excellence for Bariatric Surgery by the American Society for Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery, Blue Cross Blue Shield of North Carolina, Blue Cross National Center of Distinction, Cigna Health Care, United Health Care, and Medcost Health Care.

A Center of Excellence designation requires that a surgical practice offer a programmed, disciplined, reproducible and quality approach to the care of it’s patients. The designation carries with it not only confirmation that excellent and comprehensive care is offered at a practice, but a responsibility to maintain that level of care.

The designation requires that a precise record of outcomes and complications be maintained and reported and that these records meet specific guidelines in terms of performance. A systematic continuation of medical education is required as well as regular site visits to ensure state of the art facilities. Sensitivity training for the specific needs of the bariatric patient is required, a comprehensive nutritional support service is mandatory, access to support groups must be available, and physical therapy and psychological counseling options are essential.

At Carolina Weight Loss we take that responsibility very seriously and have done so for nearly a decade, long before the designation of a center of excellence was created. As one of the first  “Centers” in the state, we have long appreciated the crucial role of a multi-disciplined approach to the support of our patients since our beginnings in the year 2000. We anticipate maintaining that level of care and welcome you to explore your surgical weight loss options with us.
